Superintendent of Public Instruction Cindy Hill issued a public records request in July seeking all e-mails and letters from several employees in the Wyoming Department of Education and the Governor's policy office. Hill says she needs the documents to help defend herself against allegations that are being investigated by a special house committee.

Governor Matt Mead says the request includes about 80,000 e-mails all of which have to be reviewed to make sure they don't contain confidential information, before being released.

Bruce Moats, a public access lawyer who is representing Hill, has threatened to sue on her behalf if the state cannot five a legitimate reason why the documents can't be released by August 23rd.
