Wyoming Governor Appoints New Judge For Eighth Judicial District
The court is based in Converse County. The Eighth District includes Converse, Platte, Niobrara and Goshen Counties.
Peasley will succeed Judge John Brooks, who is retiring on Aug. 4, 2017. Peasley has been in private practice for 16 years in Douglas with his father. He has also served as a part-time deputy with the Converse County Attorney's Office since 2001, handling misdemeanor and felony criminal cases until a couple of years ago when his attention turned mostly to civil cases.
Peasley was chosen by the governor from among three candidates nominated for the state vacancy by the state Judicial Nominating Commission.
The governor cited the fact that Peasley grew up in Douglas, his long history of volunteer work in the community, and his six years as President of the Converse County Bar Association as among his qualifications for being appointed as a District Court Judge.
