GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) — Wyoming's governor wants the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers to study the proposed Gateway Pacific Terminal on its own.

The terminal is the largest of five proposed terminals in Washington and Oregon that would ship coal from Montana and Wyoming to power plants in Asia.

The Associated Press reports that Gov. Matt Mead sent a letter to the Corps on Tuesday saying that studies of the terminals shouldn't be lumped together into one environmental analysis, as environmentalists have requested.

Mead said a broad study that looked only coal and things such as world-wide greenhouse gas emissions would dictate the study's results. He said coal is one of many commodities that would pass through the terminals
