Gov. Mead To Act On State Budget

CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Gov. Matt Mead intends to take action Thursday on the supplemental budget bill the state Legislature has approved.

Renny MacKay is spokesman for the governor. MacKay says Mead will take action on the budget bill before heading out of state for a meeting of the National Governors Association in Washington DC.

The Legislature's supplemental budget calls for spending roughly an additional $78 million on top of the $3.2 billion state funds budget lawmakers approved last year for the biennium that runs through mid-2014. That $78 million is the increase after accounting for $61 million in state agency budget reductions in the budget.

The budget bill also would require state agencies to produce detailed plans on how they could cut their budgets over the coming two-year funding cycle.
