CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Federal officials have approved a strategy for transforming the nation's electric grid.

Interior Secretary Sally Jewell said Tuesday a proposed transmission line will strengthen the Western power grid, bringing more renewable and conventional energy to meet the region's projected growth.

The project is proposed by Rocky Mountain Power and Idaho Power Co. and stretch from Glenrock, Wyo., to an area southwest of Boise in an effort to upgrade the power distribution in both states.
