CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — The Wyoming Game and Fish Department is warning hunters to be careful with fire as many people prepare for fall hunting seasons.

The game department instructs hunters to check local fire restrictions before leaving for the outdoors. Most counties in the state are under fire restrictions.

Other precautions include never leaving campfires unattended and being careful with any smoking materials. The game department also says ATVs must be equipped with spark arrestors and that hunters should be careful not to park any vehicle in tall grass where exhaust systems could spark a blaze.
