Wyoming Game and Fish is taking public comment on several proposed budget cuts the agency plans to implement over the next few years.

Game and Fish trimmed about $4.6 million from its budget for the 2014 fiscal year. The agency is planning to reduce funds for habitat improvement, land acquisition for hunting and fishing, fish stocking, publication and education.

Robin Kepple, a spokesperson with Casper’s Wyoming Game and Fish office, says public comment is currently being accepted through the agency’s website.

"This is a good opportunity for people to be aware of what's going on with the Game and Fish department," Kepple said. "Budget cuts are something that are necessary and we need to try to look at viewpoints from all of our different constituents."

Kepple says public comment will also be accepted through the mail.
