Wyoming Pro Day’s last Friday was headlined by Josh Allen, but eight other draft-eligible Cowboys worked out in front NFL scouts and team personnel.

Players went through the rigors of testing their vertical and standing broad jump, plus a bench press of 225 pounds in the High Altitude Performance Center (HAPC).

From there they went to the Indoor Practice Facility and ran the 40-yard dash, plus did a three cone test, a 15-yard shuttle and a 60-yard shuttle. Here’s a small sampling of two of those drills:

Corner Rico Gafford was the early talk of Pro Day with a blazing 4.27 second official time in the 40. There were varying reports on that time, as reports had Gafford somewhere between a 4.19 to a 4.3. He had already opened some eyes with a 36.5 inch vertical jump, a broad jump of 10-2 and 10 reps on the bench. Gafford did cramp up during his second 40 and during the 3 Cone test and wasn’t able to finish the day.

Fullback Drew Van Maanen was another former Cowboy that had a big day. He took part in Allen’s throwing session, but also put up a personal record in every part in the weight room. That included a 33 inch vertical jump, 9-10 in the broad jump and 17 reps on the bench press. He even fit in a little long snapping on the side, something Van Maanen did during his senior season with UW. His 40-time was 4.76 seconds.

Offensive lineman Ryan Cummings also had a good showing last Friday. The former guard and tackle set PR’s in the vertical jump (28.5), broad jump (8-5) and 40-yard dash (5.3). He finished with 18 reps on the bench press. Here are a few of the position drills Cummings went through with an assistant from the Denver Broncos.

Other former Cowboys that participated in the Pro Day included long snapper Kolton Donovan, who snapped for the Bills, Chargers and Saints. He did not participate in other drills as Donovan continues his recovery from an ACL injury suffered in the opener last season at Iowa.

Defensive end Nela Lolohea led all Pokes with 21 reps on the bench press. Former safety Tim Kamana did 18 reps on the bench and had a 4.63 second 40-yard time. Former nickel back/safety Jalen Ortiz ran 4.53 in the 40 and had 16 reps on the bench. Corner Robert Priester also ran 4.53, while Lolohea ran 4.62 seconds. All 40-yard dash times are unofficial.

Gafford and Cummings both mentioned they’ve been invited to the Denver Broncos’ local Pro Day April 2.
