Officials with the Casper-Natrona County Public Health Department say the number of flu cases in the Casper area is on the decline.

However, health officials also say that, despite the declining numbers, many area flu cases remain severe.

Public health director Robert Harrington still recommends residents take preventative measures.

“Wash your hands, stay home when you’re sick, and also, if you haven’t gotten a flu shot yet, it still may be worthwhile,” Harrington said.

According to the Centers for Disease Control, the flu remains widespread throughout Wyoming and much of the Rocky Mountain region. Widespread flu is also being reported in the west, midwest and the northeast.

Localized and regionalized flu is being reported throughout the Dakotas and much of the American south.
