A residential structure fire displaced a family in south Casper on Monday afternoon, according to a news release from the Casper Fire-EMS Department on Monday evening.

Casper Fire-EMS units were dispatched shortly before 3 p.m. to reports of smoke and fire coming from the second floor of a residence in the 4400 block of Sunrise Drive.

They found a well-involved fire in the second floor and quickly extinguished it.

The department has learned the occupants were not in the home when the fire was reported.

No injuries were reported as of the time of this news release.

However, the residents were displaced for the evening due to extensive smoke damage, and utilities being secured to the residence.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation by investigators with Casper Fire-EMS.

Six total units, three investigators, and chief officers from Casper Fire-EMS responded to the scene. Other responding agencies included the Casper Police Department and an ambulance from Wyoming Medical Center.
