Casper Fire-EMS Puts Out Business Fire; Police Block E Street
Casper Fire-EMS and police blocked East E Street Monday morning while they responded to a call about a fire at a local business.
The call came in at 11:25 a.m. about a structure fire at Auto Dynamic's, 601 East E St.
"When we arrived on scene, what we actually found was a chimney fire," Casper Fire-EMS spokesman Andrew Sundell said.
"There's an industrial building here, and they have the ability to burn trash, and they were burning some trash in one of their chimneys and it caught the inside of the chimney on fire," Sundell said.
Crews evacuated the eight to 10 employees, other crews went on the roof to see if they could put it out from there, other crews extinguished the fire, and finally set up fans, he said.
There were no injuries, Sundell said.
While it was a headache for motorists, the fire and police departments had to close East E Street, which is parallel to Interstate 25, between South Center and South McKinley streets.
"In this case, just based on the location of the building, it's a one-way street," Sundell said. "The fire department has to be able to use that street to access it, so we just needed it closed off to get all the apparatus here safely."
Damage estimates have not been finalized, he added.
