The young people of Midwest will have a new and larger youth center to grow into in the not too distance future.

Thanks to exhaustive fund raising by adults who care, the town now has about $870,000 in grant money to build the much needed amenity in a town that has few.

Paula Chapman is president of Salt Creek Community Recreation. She says they've out grown the current bar-turned youth drop-in center.

"They go there for fast food and just to visit, to play the WII, watch TV, listen to music, play pool, that kind of stuff. Just a safe place for kids to hang out three nights a week."

Chapman says the new facility should provide enough space for separate age-appropriate areas for kids, plus community meeting space for special events.

Thanks to the Wyoming Business Council, Anadarko and the Natrona County Recreation Joint Powers Board, they expect to break ground in June.
