A Wyoming man who killed his three young sons and brother and wounded his wife in a shooting rampage two years ago, has been ordered to serve five consecutive life sentences — four of them without possibility of parole.

District Judge John Brooks sentenced 37-year-old Everett Conant III on Tuesday, November 12th.

He denied a request from Conant's lawyers to give him a single life sentence with the possibility of parole.

The July 2011 killings shocked the quiet agricultural town of Wheatland, about 70 miles north of Cheyenne.

Conant's lawyers say he was mentally ill when he opened fire.

They say that he's now a different man following treatment at the Wyoming State Hospital.
