Wyoming Secretary of State Ed Murray says his office has saved taxpayers millions of dollars since he took office a year ago.

Murray says switching from paper to electronic filing has dramatically improved the way people do business in the state.

"We were able to save the taxpayers $10-12 million in implementing a new electronic filing process for our Business Division," said Murray. "That helps us facilitate and serve the 128,000 customers that we have."

Murray says the Secretary of State's Office was doing everything by paper before he took office.

"In one day we had over 1,800 paper filings that were being handled manually," said Murray. "With this ever increasing volume of business and the paperwork stacking up, it was just absolutely necessary to go electronic."
