Shortly before 11pm on Wednesday night, residents near the intersection of Thelma Drive and Cynthia Drive heard what they described as a large "pop". What ensued was a fire that engulfed the bushes adjacent to a house in the northeast corner of the cul de sac. Police responding to the scene knocked on doors to alert the neighbors of the situation. Posting from social media outlets indicated that residents of the cul de sac were using their own garden hoses to fight off flying embers. According to a police officer at the scene, the fire spread to a adjoining yard near a gas line. The fire was put out shortly before 11:30pm.
