Eagle Caught On Film Taking Down A Deer [PHOTOS]

There are few occurrences in nature where a large bird of prey has been photographed or video taped taking down it’s prey, and even fewer of them taking down large prey like deer.

A camera trap set to capture photos of the endangered Siberian Tigers in the Russian Far East captured a very rare occurrence: a golden eagle capturing a young sika deer.

Warning – Photos are a bit graphic in nature and might not be suitable for children.

The researchers and scientists at the WCS stated that eagles do not regularly attack deer and there is nothing to suggest that such attacks have any impact on deer populations.

The Wildlife Conservation Society saves wildlife and wild places worldwide.  They do so through science, global conservation, education and the management of the world’s largest system of urban wildlife parks, led by the flagship Bronx Zoo.  Together these activities change attitudes towards nature and help people imagine wildlife and humans living in harmony.  WCS is committed to this mission because it is essential to the integrity of life on Earth. Visit www.wcs.org.
