A  spokesman for the Sweetwater County Sheriff's Department is warning online shoppers to be wary of e-mails asking them to confirm business account information.

Dick Blust says the e-mails claim to be from legitimate businesses and will often threaten to cancel the customer's account if the information is not immediately sent. He says this scam is just one more attempt to get access to personal financial information which can than be used by criminals to purchase products or drain your bank account

Blust goes on to says you should never provide financial or other personal information in response to unsolicited e-mails,. even if the sender claims to be a legitimate business.
