Drier, Warmer Air Moves Into The Region Today

Drier and warmer high pressure will start to build over the region today.  However, there will still be a minimal chance for thunderstorm activity due to some lingering moisture and daytime heating, mainly in the mountains and higher elevations.  We will also see mostly sunny skies with warm and close to average temperatures statewide.  Daytime highs will stay in the 80's with overnight lows dropping to the upper 50's to lower 60's.  High pressure will continue to control the weather for central and southern parts of the state this weekend, which keeps conditions warm and mainly dry.  Winds could become strong and gusty as times along portions of I-25 and I-80 with gusts between 25 to 35 mph.  This will cause an increase in fire danger this weekend.  At the same time, a passing weather system will create a chance for isolated thunderstorm activity in far northern parts of the state on Saturday and Sunday.
