The Joint Education Interim Committee is considering a draft bill that would require at least 2 hours of suicide prevention training for teachers and school administrators each year beginning in the 2014-2015 school year.

Laramie County School District #1 Superintendent Mark Stock says it's probably a really good idea. He says suicide prevention is one of the " more pressing problems in society today, so I think we need to do it."

Stock says if the bill passes, he hopes the training can be conducted in alternative ways that don't take away from instruction and professional training time. Stock adds that many schools already have suicide prevention programs in place.
