The Casper City Council unanimously approved spending  just under $100,000 this week for preparation of a downtown Casper strategic redevelopment plan.

The Portland-based consulting firm Crandall-Arambula will oversee preparation of a study designed to spur the downtown revitalization process forward. Laura Angelo represents the Amoco Reuse Agreement Joint Powers Board, which put up half the cost.

"I admit at first I was just slightly skeptical, because I think so often we  allocate funds towards consultants in hopes that they come up with the golden answer without really committing to that long term process that it takes for success."

Angelo says the firm stood out amongst the others with a strong plan and extensive experience. Completion of the redevelopment plan is expected by early June.
