There's been a lot of talk and debate about expanding Medicaid coverage in Wyoming as outlined in the Affordable Care Act.

In advance of the upcoming legislative session, the Wyoming Department of Health has put together a plan for the expansion if it is approved.

It's is called the S.H.A.R.E. Plan, and if implemented by the legislature, would expand medicaid coverage to an estimated 17,600 low-income Wyoming residents.

The Wyoming Medical Center said today they are encouraged by the plan and will be studying the details. Currently, charity care and treatment that people simply cannot afford costs the Medical Center $56-million a year.
