A Casper woman has been sentenced for taking money from her employer.

Debrah Schreier will spend the next 2-4 years at the Wyoming Women's Center in Lusk, after she pleaded guilty to embezzling more than $20,000 from her law firm employer and a client trust fund.

According to prosecutors, Mrs. Schreier started working for Bishop Bishop and Yapp back in April of 2010.

About 2 weeks into the job she started forging checks to herself and kept doing so from April to December...sometimes doing it 2-3 times per week.

It was eventually determined that she had forged about 42 checks.

Mrs. Schreier said she was doing it to pay bills and provide for her children.

The prosecution mentioned that she had stolen from a previous employer, before this situation started to develop.

She's also been ordered to reimburse about $25,000 which includes the money she stole, plus some interest.

Schreier's defense team has filed an objection to the pre-sentence investigation.
