A Natrona County man is accused of threatening his wife and the family pet with a knife, but called law enforcement himself, when he realized what he had done.

Forty-three year old David Bright, has been charged with one count of aggravated assault.

The Natrona County Sheriff's Office says Bright and his wife got into an argument Friday night (February 20th) over his drinking, and the argument continued the next morning.

Bright was drinking again and the argument escalated to a point where he threw two metal crutches at his wife, but hit a dog kennel instead.

The dog was able to get out as a result, and Bright became enraged even more.

His wife and the dog ran into another room to seek shelter, but Bright pursued and was able to force his way into the room, where he struck his wife with his fist, and then held a metal knife and said he was going to kill her.

Bright then came to his senses, contacted law enforcement and explained everything.

Sheriff's Deputies searched the room, and found a deep marking in the wall, which appeared to have been caused by a knife, as well as several spots of blood.

Bright is being held on $15,000 bond awaiting trial, and could face up to 10 years in prison, if convicted.
