Rich Denison, Townsquare Media

UPDATE – Monday, July 15th, 9:00pm - The fire is now 100% contained.

UPDATE – Monday, July 15th, 1:00 p.m. - Fire crews are expecting full containment of the 211 acre ‘Sensebaugh’ fire southeast of Casper by the end of the day.  Authorities say a combination of factors, including aerial resources, favorable weather and lighter fuels stopped the fire from spreading.

There was no growth in the fire over the weekend, and most fire teams assigned to the area were being demobilized.

The cause of the fire at the northwest edge of Medicine Bow National Forest remains under investigation, but officials believe lightning might have sparked the fire, which was reported Thursday.

Update, Sunday, July 14th, 8:00pm: Fire containment is at 80% and roughly 211 acres have burned. Full containment is estimated for sometime Monday.

Original story:

Fire crews have reached 20 percent containment of the Sensebaugh wildfire burning southeast of Casper at the northwest corner of Medicine Bow National Forest. Fire managers reported Saturday morning that there’s been no growth, as the fire remains at about 211 acres.

About 100 personnel are assigned to the fire, including crews from Natrona County Fire District, the State of Wyoming, BLM and U.S. Forest Service. The ground teams are being aided by two helicopters, and two single-engine air tankers. Four hand crews were working the fire Saturday morning, with one crew scheduled to be released from the blaze.

Authorities on the scene say forecasts are favorable for minimal growth, with lower temperatures, higher humidity and possible rain. No structures are threatened by the fire. The cause of the wildfire remains under investigation.
