A Riverton man died in a single vehicle crash about a half-mile north of Riverton on Saturday, according to a news release from Sgt. David Wagener of the Wyoming Highway Patrol on Monday.

David H. Williams, 24, was driving a 2013 Ford Fusion passenger car at a high rate of speed south on Wyoming Highway 789 sometime early Saturday, but the exact time of the crash is unknown, according to the news release.

At mile post 109, Williams lost control of the car on a left-hand curve and crashed into a guardrail. After striking the guardrail, the car vaulted off the highway.

He was not wearing his seat belt, and was ejected from the car when it hit the guardrail. He died at the scene.

Alcohol use and speed are being investigated as contributing factors to the crash, according to the news release.
