The entrance near the Wyoming National Guard airfield was closed down Thursday afternoon as Cheyenne Police were called to the Mt. Sinai Synagogue in the area of 26th and Carey in response to a report of a suspicious package. Spokesman Officer Dan Long says the call came in around 11:30 a.m. Long says the package was unmarked and left by the door of the synagogue. Long says the Cheyenne Police/Laramie County Sheriff's Department Joint Explosive Ordinance Disposal or bomb team used a general disruption, or water charge to open the box. They found the box contained a contained a radio and several books.

During the investigation into the suspicious package, a civilian transport truck at the National Guard gate at the airport tested positive for explosives during routine inspection. The security perimeter has closed off Dell Range Boulevard from Yellowstone to Seminole.
