The worst fear for Wyoming Cowgirl basketball became reality Thursday with news that junior guard Liv Roberts is done for the season.

In a release from UW, head women’s coach Joe Legerski stated an MRI confirmed Roberts tore the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL) in her right knee during Wednesday’s loss at Colorado State. The injury occurred early in the fourth quarter of the 61-54 loss. The release says Roberts will be scheduled for surgery and is expected to make a full and complete recovery.

Roberts was the Cowgirls leader on the season in scoring, at 15.6 points per game, and rebounding, at 7.8 per game. She started all 25 games and scored in double figures in 22 of those. She was named Mountain West Player of the Week four times this season. Roberts had upped her numbers in MW action to 16.5 points and 8.6 rebounds per game.

It’s a tough break for Wyoming, who returns to action Saturday at home versus Boise State. Game time is 2 p.m.
