The city of Casper will advance its plans to reconstruct a neglected county road on the city's east side.

Casper City Council on Tuesday approved rebuild plans that include full curb and gutter, sidewalks and streetlights for a stretch of Country Club Road between Wyoming Boulevard and Ardon Lane.

Council approved the resolution 8-0. Ward II councilor Craig Hedquist abstained from the vote but noted that he supported the project.

City manager John Patterson says improved drive quality will be one of the project's many benefits.

“I can attest to the fact that it’s really a tough road to drive down, and it does need to be reconstructed,” Patterson said. “The development on the east side of the road will precipitate that – move it forward quickly.”

City officials say the reconstructed road will also aid development on Casper's east side.

Funding for the $140,000 project will come from one-cent sales tax funds. Patterson says Natrona County will reimburse the city roughly $300,000 for the project.
