A small victory Thursday for those who'd like indoor public spaces in Natrona County to be smoke free.

Casper City Council agreed to continue a conversation with the group Smoke Free Natrona County and work toward drawing up a proposed ordinance that could be taken to the public for hearing at a future city council meeting.

"We're going to be helping them in the next couple of weeks with some planning in terms of what an ordinance would look like, getting the language of the ordinance correct."

That's Simon Marshall of the advocacy group, Smoke Free Natrona County. The proposal to be drafted would likely call for smoking to be prohibited in all in door public spaces. Last year the group surveyed over 800 county residents on the question and nearly 70-percent of those responding said they would support a ban.

Next steps will happen at the February 13th city council work session.
