The city of Casper may soon increase several of its solid waste removal fees.

Casper City Council on Tuesday gave preliminary approval to a proposal that raises on-call residential, commercial weekly collection and additional requested pickup fees by five percent.

The proposal also calls for increased container fees for city department, non-profit and commercial customers to $65 for container delivery and $185 for each collection. A fee of $3 per day will also be assessed.

“Turns out, we’ve been undercutting the commercial contractors in town, so we basically raised our rates to match the private rates,” Casper mayor Paul Meyer said.

Meyer says the proposal will leave most residential fees unchanged. Council will vote on the resolution during next Tuesday's regular session.
