The Corridor Gallery is offering a special show this weekend featuring a collection of classic illustration works. They're from the collection of Fred Taraba, former curator for the Society of Illustrators in New York City. Taraba now finds himself living in Casper.

"Fred collects original illustration, specifically vintage illustration, that were used for certain publications. So at one particular time the piece was done specifically to be in an advertisement as commercial illustration."

Reed Merschat, Corridor Gallery Co-owner, says Taraba is a nationally renown expert, author, collector and dealer of original illustration artwork who has also just released a new book, “Masters of American Illustration: Forty-One Illustrators and How They Worked”.

Along with the opening reception and book launch Friday evening, he'll also be hosting a curator talk Saturday afternoon.

"Saturday at one he'll basically be doing a Q&A session. He'll talk about his new book. He'll  go through a lot of his pieces and explain their origins and where the illustrations ended up and, obviously, answer a lot of questions."

The public is invited to attend the opening reception Friday, curator talk Saturday, or to drop in and view the original artworks, the majority of which are on display this weekend only.
