Coroner Identifies Man Who Died After Crash Last Week

The Natrona County Coroner has identified the man who died after a crash west of Casper last week.

"His name is James Stolt, 61 years old, he's a Casper resident," Connie Jacobson said Wednesday.

"He did have an autopsy, but I won't get those results for another few weeks so I can determine a manner and a cause of death," Jacobson said.

The case began Thursday afternoon when the Natrona County Sheriff's Office received a  call from a Wyoming Department of Transportation employee, who saw a wrecked blue van north of westbound Wyoming Highway 220 about 2 miles southwest of Robertson Road.

Deputies searched the area and found the body of a male in his early 60s about 150 yards away from the wreck.

Investigators believed the wreck may have happened either late Wednesday or early Thursday, but the wreck was not the cause of the man's death.

After the crash, Stolt began to walk towards Casper when he fell 15 to 20 feet off a cliff. They added he probably died from injuries sustained from the fall.
