The fire burning south of Glenrock has grown to nearly 2,600 acres. The fire broke out Sunday, and has burned north over Buffalo Peak, south of Squaw Mountain and west to East Box Elder Creek. It’s burning portions of Medicine Bow National Forest, and on state and private lands. Fire crews have been hampered by strong winds and very rugged terrain.

Homes and cabins along Cold Springs Road are threatened by the fire, and Converse County Sheriff’s Deputies went door-to-door on Monday to urge people in the area to evacuate.

At least five helicopters and two airplanes are now attacking the fire, along with 10 fire crews, 15 fire engines and a helicopter rappel crew. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
