A Wyoming Department of Transportation grant will help extend the connectivity of the Platte River Parkway in Casper with dollars toward an underpass at Wyoming Boulevard and West 13th street near Fort Caspar.

Parkway Trust Executive Director, Angela Emery says the intersection has been a safety concern for years. "The intersection is problematic especially for families or for slower users. And larger events that occur on the trail require special assistance."

Emery says the $358,000 grant comes through the Transportation Alternatives Program and will combine with funds from the Natrona County Recreation Joint Powers Board and One Cent #14 monies.

She says engineering will likely start in the new year with construction beginning late in 2013.

Emery says there will also be an update on the Morad Park bypass coming soon.
