YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) — The National Park Service has given the public more time to comment on a plan to improve the electrical power distribution system in Yellowstone National Park.

The comment period was extended for an additional 15 days until Dec. 21.

Much of the existing power infrastructure in the park has not been updated since the 1950's and is prone to frequent outages.

The proposed improvements would seek to reduce the duration of power outages, improve system reliability, and improve visitor and employee safety.
