Inauguration Details Announced
A children's choir, a brass band and three previous governors will all be on hand in Cheyenne on Jan. 3 for the inauguration of Matt Mead as Wyoming's 32nd governor.
Mead and the other four statewide officials will be sworn into office in a public ceremony starting at 10 a.m. at the Cheyenne Civic Center. Following the ceremony, the public is also invited to a free State Capitol reception, which starts at 11:30 a.m.
Later that evening, Mead and incoming first lady Carol Mead will attend an inaugural gala ball at Little America Hotel and Resort in Cheyenne. The black-tie gala is open to the public, though tickets are $100 per person.
Along with Mead, Wyoming Chief Justice Marilyn Kite will also swear in Max Maxfield as secretary of state, Cynthia Cloud as auditor, Joe Meyer as treasurer and Cindy Hill as superintendent of public instruction. Outgoing Gov. Dave Freudenthal, as well as former governors Jim Geringer and Mike Sullivan, will attend the ceremony, according to Mead's inauguration office.
