A two vehicle crash early this morning on Wyoming State Highway 59 has resulted in the death of 43 year old Windsor, Colorado resident Shane Nett. The crash happened at 1:00 a.m. approximately 29 miles north of Douglas, Wyoming on WY 59.

While northbound on WY 59, Mr. Nett was driving a large SUV. Somehow, the truck crossed over the center line and entered the southbound lane of WY 59. Kevin Hall, a 31 year old resident of Evansville, Wyoming, was southbound on WY 59 driving an 18-wheeler. Hall saw the northbound SUV enter the southbound lane and swerved to avoid a collision. The tractor-trailer came to rest upright on the west side of the highway.

Mr. Nett died at the scene. Five other passengers in his SUV, ranging in age from 44 to 7 years old, were all taken to Memorial Hospital of Converse County in Douglas. Their conditions are unknown. Mr. Hall had no passengers and was not injured.

The crash did cause WY 59 to be closed between Douglas and Wright, Wyoming from 1:48 a.m. until 7:48 a.m. No citations or charges have been filed at this time. Contributing factors are still under investigation. Mr. Nett is the 54th highway fatality in Wyoming for 2015. There were 54 fatalities during this same time period in 2014.
