Starting in May of 2018, Casper will be the home of a collegiate baseball team, courtesy of the new Expedition League. This new venture will have teams in North Dakota, South Dakota and Nebraska. The league will play a 62 game schedule with college players from Division I,II and III schools. Casper last played host to summer college baseball from 2012-2014 with the Cutthroats but the team ceased operations when the Rocky Mountain Collegiate League folded. The president of the Expedition League, Steve Wagner as well as team owner Chuck Heeman announced their intentions at Lansing Field on Wednesday afternoon. Both men are eager to get the summer collegiate baseball season rolling.
