The Park County Attorney's Office says a Cody police officer was justified in shooting and killing a man who fired a rifle during a domestic disturbance.

The Billings Gazette's Wyoming bureau  reports County Attorney Bryan Skoric determined 34-year-old Jared Christen fired 13 shots during the Oct. 11 disturbance.

Christen's wife called police to report her husband was throwing furniture, punching holes in the wall and pushing her. When officers arrived at the couple's home, he retreated to the basement with two of his young sons and refused to let them leave.

Police say Christen was shot when he left the basement and fired at officers.

Skoric wrote in his report, which was released Monday, the officer was justified in using deadly force because he was "in imminent danger of death or serious bodily harm."
