‘Click It or Ticket’ Campaign Reminds Wyomingites to Buckle Up [PHOTOS, VIDEO]

Thousands of motorists will take to the roads this Memorial Day weekend, and law enforcement will be cracking down on those who don't buckle up.

To stress the importance of seat belt use, Wyoming Gov. Matt Mead joined local law enforcement officials and first responders at Cheyenne Regional Medical Center this (Wednesday) afternoon to kick off this year's "Click It or Ticket" May Mobilization campaign.

"The statistics are staggering," said Gov. Mead. "Of the fatalities in Wyoming last year, 70 percent of the highway fatalities were people not wearing seat belts."

"There's a myth out there, because of our weather and our road conditions, that it's often people from out-of-state, but this year of the 35 fatalities, 29 are Wyoming residents," he added.

Gov. Mead says Wyomingites can and must do a better job of buckling up.

"It's frustrating for all of us," said Gov. Mead. "It's such an easy thing to do and it takes so little time and clearly it saves lives."
