Potential purchase and renovation of the Iris Theatre by the group Citizens For A Civic Auditorium moves forward next Tuesday. That assumes Casper City Council signs off on a memorandum of understanding.

In part, the MOU releases the city from any liability should environmental issues arise.

A conceptual rendering from Amundsen Associates proposes the main theatre be re-built onto the west of the historical structure.

"We'll renovate the interior of that space, then we'll have a lobby, support spaces, offices, a 200 seat theater, and then to the west we'll actually add the 1200 seat auditorium and stage."

Architect, Ron Shosh, says they've scaled back the size of the theatre that could, potentially, provide an economic anchor to the downtown.

A feasibility study and new business plan, along with cost estimates should be ready May 1st.
