Citizens for a Civic Auditorium will bring their current plans for a performing arts center back to Casper City Council on Tuesday. The current deadline for purchase of the Iris Movie Theater by the group comes at the end of the month. Executive Director, Renee Hahn, says they want to bring their vision for a civic auditorium back to city council in order to bring new council members up-to-date on the project and, she says, they want to ask the city to consider purchasing the building on West 2nd Street downtown from Movie Palace Inc.

Ultimately, the group hopes to renovate the theater into a 1200 seat state-of-the-art performing arts space with offices, lobby, additional event space, plus a smaller 200 seat theater.

Over the last several years the group has gathered just under $4.4 million in pledges toward the project plus recieving about $400,000 in grants. The projected construction budget indicates an estimated $15 million in costs, plus  $3.5 million in for contigency , plus misc taxes and fees.

Tuesday's city council work session agenda packet includes conceptual drawings of the proposal by Amundsen and Associates.
