Casper City Council has announced the five finalists for the city manager position, according to a news release on Wednesday.

In May, City Manager John Patterson announced his decision to retire on Nov. 1.

In July, the city awarded a $27,000 contract to executive recruitment firm Strategic Government Resources of Keller, Texas, to find the next city manager.

The contract required the firm to attract candidates, narrow that field to 12 semifinalists and then six finalists, conduct background checks, and prepare interview questions.

Strategic Government Resources narrowed the field to these candidates:

  • Wade Farris – Othello, Wash.
  • Tony O'Rourke -- Yakima, Wash.
  • Shawn Kessel -- Dickinson, N.D.
  • Carter Napier -- Gillette.
  • V.H. McDonald -- Casper.

At 6 p.m. Sunday, City Council will host a reception in the Summit Room at the Casper Events Center for the public to meet the finalists.
