The Fire Fighter Combat Challenge last year in downtown Casper was apparently the biggest turn out for a regional challenge event in the country. That's something that Casper Fire-Ems and those who put on the event feel really good about.

"The promoters said they've never seen a crowd like Casper Wyoming and, you know, that just speaks volumes for the people that we serve every day."

Casper Firefighter, Craig Kidder, is spokesman for this years event and he says the  'Firefighters Combat Chili Cookoff ' this Friday is a chance to help make this year's regional challenge  another good one.

"What we're gonna do is we have some local cooks coming into the Attic on April 29, which is this up-coming Friday. It starts at 5:30 PM  above the Wonder Bar. Goes till about 8. We have a silent auction that includes a float trip, flyfishing trip, we have some climbing outings, some landscaping, all sorts of good stuff you can get a bid in on and help support the 'Combat Challenge' coming back in September."

He says five dollars gets you in the door, then its time to taste chili and vote for your favorite.

This years 'Firefighter Combat Challenge Regional Competition' happens on September 10th, in honor of firefighters who lost their lives on September 11th, 2001. Kidder says they feel humbled the event will take place in Casper on such a significant day.

Money raised Friday evening at the Attic will help cover the cost of making it happen.
