CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — A 49-year-old Cheyenne woman has been sentenced to 37 months in prison for embezzling more than $718,000 from her employer and failing to report income to the Internal Revenue Service.

U.S. District Judge Alan Johnson sentenced Deborah Dawn Hill on Friday.

Hill had pleaded guilty in federal court to one count of fraud and one count of tax evasion after she used her company's Mastercard to obtain cash advances, goods and services, including helping to send children through college and paying for family vacations.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports that Hill worked as the bookkeeper for a local high-tech firm specializing in building fuel cells for the military.

Hill apologized to those hurt by her actions, saying she wants to do everything she can in pay the money back.
