Due to overwhelming interest in their first "Places of Worship Safety Workshop," Cheyenne police will be holding another workshop to help churches be prepared in case they face an active shooter situation.

Officer Kevin Malatesta says the two-hour training -- which was developed in response to November's church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas -- will help places of worship create security plans to keep their congregations safe.

"Anybody who's concerned about it or has had this going through their head of what they can do to be a little bit more prepared would really benefit from coming to this meeting," said Malatesta.

"If people are prepared and have an idea of how they would or could react in such a situation it could help to minimize injuries and save people's lives," he added.

The workshop will be held at the Cheyenne Public Safety Center on Jan. 23 from 6-8 p.m. To sign up click here.
