CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Cheyenne mayor Rick Kaysen is seeking a second term in office.

Kaysen announced his re-election bid on Wednesday at The Plains Hotel to a group of about 20 family, friends and city officials.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reported that Kaysen said he wants to focus on job creation and retention, improvements downtown and preserving Cheyenne's heritage. He said that the city's downtown is on the cusp of getting better.

Mayoral candidates must file paperwork to run between May 17 and June 1.
