A convicted felon is facing up to four-and-a-half years in prison after Laramie County Sheriff's deputies executing arrest warrants found a gun on him.

According to court documents, deputies tried to arrest 32-year-old Adrian Salinas outside of City National Pawn on February 1, when Salinas wiggled out of the heavy winter coat he was wearing and ran across the S. Greeley Highway.

As he was running, a .40 caliber semi-automatic handgun Salinas had tucked in the waistband of his pants came out and landed in the middle of the highway. Deputies were able to apprehend Salinas a brief time later.

A criminal history check showed Salinas had a prior conviction for homicide/manslaughter on June 11, 2010 in Colorado.

Salinas has been charged with felony gun possession, carrying a concealed weapon and resisting arrest. His preliminary hearing is scheduled for February 9 in Laramie County Circuit Court.
