CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) — Chairwoman of the Cheyenne Frontier Days Indians Committee and head of the Recognize, Retain and Recruit Subcommittee Andrea Allen says the majority of Cheyenne Frontier Days' 2,900 volunteers are older than 40.

The Recognize, Retain and Recruit Subcommittee started the Youth Volunteer Program this year in an effort to bring in new, younger volunteers from ages 14-18 for the Old West festival.

Director of the Youth Volunteer Program George Geyer says he and his coordinators first began seeking applicants to the program in January. They now have 15 teens participating.

Geyer says among efforts to reach teens, he and his coordinators worked with Laramie County School District 1 to send information to student organizations, like DECA, FFA and Future Business Leaders of America.
