The first of three free Cheyenne Frontier Days pancake breakfasts got underway Monday morning at the Cheyenne Depot Plaza. The breakfasts have been presented by the Cheyenne Kiwanis Club since the mid-1960's, according to this year's breakfast Chairman Dan Kirby.

He says many people may not realize the months of meetings and planning that go into feeding over 30,000 people over the course of three days. Although no numbers were immediately available Monday morning on how many breakfasts were served, the crowds appeared to be large and energetic.

Wednesday, which is Cheyenne Day, traditionally attracts the largest free breakfast crowds, and Kirby says if it is a typical year the number of breakfasts served on Wednesday may total well over 12,000.

A final free breakfast for CFD 2014 will be served on Friday from 7-9 at the Cheyenne Depot Plaza.
